The
meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Joseph Hergott in the
conference room of the Lower Platte South NRD in Lincoln, Nebraska at
approximately 3:00 p.m.
Commission
Chair, Joseph Hergott, introduced Dan Watermeier, the new Commission member
from the Nemaha River Basin.
Watermeier, who farms near Syracuse, reviewed his background and
interest in natural resources.
Notice
of the meeting was placed in the LINCOLN JOURNAL-STAR on May 15, 2002,
notifying the public of the meeting.
Joseph
Hergott called on Tom Pesek who reviewed the purpose of the meeting and
explained that four project sponsors would be briefing the Commission on the
status of their project. Pesek then
reviewed various items of information that had been provided to Commission
members by the staff and to each
of
the project sponsors.
Representatives of sponsors of each of the four
projects requesting funds for the coming year provided brief presentations and
the status of each of their projects in response to Commission member’s
questions on their projects as follows:
(1)
Lake Ericson - Lower Loup NRD (Robert Mohler)
(2)
Antelope Creek – Lower Platte South NRD
(Glenn Johnson)
(3)
Little Sandy Creek Watershed – Little Blue
NRD (Mike Onnen)
(4)
Stevens Creek Watershed – Lower Platte South
NRD (Paul Zillig)
Tom
Pesek and Gayle Starr explained the recommended funding for each project that
had requested funds and noted that this would leave some additional funds for
the possible funding of the Blue Creek Irrigation District Rehabilitation
Project and for the Western Sarpy/Clear Creek Project. Pesek added that the Commission at their
regulation meeting tomorrow would be able to obligate funds for these requests
effective July 1, 2002.
The
meeting was adjourned at approximately 4:45 p.m.
