Rectified Digital Imagery:The U.S. Farm Service Agency developed color digital imagery based on July -August aerial photography for all counties in Nebraska. These images have 1-meter resolution and were rectified using existing Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles (DOQ), developed through a joint effort between USGS and DNR, as a control source. For additional information, contact U.S. Farm Service Agency at 402-437-5581.

Compressed Digital Orthophotos: The Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as part of its Data Bank activities, has compressed the rectified digital imagery obtained from FSA using a JPEG format.

Since JPEG is a "lossy" image compression format, a compressed digital image will have slightly less color separation or clarity than a digital image that wasn't compressed. For additional information, contact the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at 402-471-3964.

Availability of FSA Compressed Digital Orthophotos - 2006 - 1 meter - Quarter Quadrangles NEW
  • UTM Projections - HTTP site in JPEG format.
  • State Plane Projections - HTTP site in JPEG format.
  • DNR Text Interface - Including USGS/DNR COQs & FSA Imagery NEW
  • Both projections are referenced to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) with UTM coordinates (Zone 13, 14 & 15) in meters and State Plane (FIPS Zone 2600) coordinates in feet.
  • The HTTP site has directories in latitude/longitude.
Each FSA Compressed Digital Orthophoto (3.5 minute quarter-quadrangle, 1-meter ground resolution, 1:12,000 scale) requires about 6MB of storage space. The transmission of coverage may take 25 minutes or more at 56KB and low-speed Internet links. The transmission of data at lower speeds is not recommended.

NOTE: The State Plane COQs have been re-projected and are not quite 1-meter resolution due to projection.
