Attribute_Accuracy_Report:: The initial sources used to create the Census TIGER data base were the USGS 1:100,000-scale Digital Line Graph (DLG), USGS 1:234,000-scale quadrangles, and the Census Bureau's BF/DIME-Files.The DLG coverage is extensive, albeit of variable currency and comprises mos of the rural, small city, and suburan area of the TIGER/Line files. GBF/DIME-File coverage area were updated through 1987 with manual translation of features from most recent aerial photography available to the Census Bureau. Its files and maps are designed to show only the relative positions of elements. For features based on the DLG files, the positional accuracy of the information is no greater than established National Map Accuracy standards for 1:100,000-scale maps the USGS (approximately +/- 167 feet); thus, it is not suitable precision measurement application for high precision measurement applications such as engineering problems, property transfers, or other uses that might require highly accurate measurements of the earth's surface.
